Internet2 and networking industry partners Juniper Networks, Ciena and Brocade, have announced the 2013 Innovative Application Awards. Launched in 2012, the new Internet2 Network is the first open, national-scale 100G network employing software defined networking (SDN) and OpenFlow standards. The awards program will grant cash prizes of up to $10,000 to the best open source, end-user applications that make use of the OpenFlow-enabled SDN capabilities of switches and controllers like those found on the new network.
