Ten Year 2000 Readiness Assessment Questions Management Should be Asking

E. Michael Staman, Vice Chancellor/CIO, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia shares a simple, effective checklist with CREN members.
  • How many systems do we have in our inventory?
  • What are my facilities impacts?
  • How many of these are "mission critical" for your institution?
  • What criteria did we use to determine which systems where "mission critical" and which were not?
  • How many of our mission critical systems are Y2K ready?
  • What are our critical Y2K milestones for the systems which are not ready?
  • Have we identified, contacted, and heard back from all of our critical vendors and other suppliers?
  • Do we have written contingency plans?
  • Is my senior management fully informed and involved?
  • What are the legal implications in all of this?
