Exporting a User Certificate from Netscape

These are instructions for exporting a certificate using Netscape Communicator.

Start off by clicking on the "Security" button located on your icon bar. If you do not see the "Security" button, use the pull down menus: Communicator -> Tools -> Security Info.

Which should yield a window similar to the image below. Click on the certificate you wish to export (which should highlight it) and click "Export".

A password dialog box should appear. This is the password to your Netscape Communicator Certificate Database. You should have configured this password when you generated your certificate. Enter it at this time.

You should protect this data with a short password. You will need this password when you import the certificate into another browser.

Retype the password.

Then you should select a location for the exported certificate. Save it to an easily accessible location such as your desktop.

Name the certificate "mycert1" (leaving the "Save as type:" to PKCS12) and click "Save". You should then see.

Information on how to IMPORT this certificate into Microsoft's Internet Explorer can be retrieved by connecting to this site using IE.
