CREN's Virtual Seminars are multimedia events that provide detailed information on networking and information technology topics. Creating Internet2 is available to our CREN members both over the Web and on CD; Untangling the Web and Campus Communication Strategies are available on CD. The seminars range in length from a total of two to five hours.

The interactive user interface lets you define just how much -- or how little -- of a seminar you watch in a single sitting. Topics are arranged to be viewed in any order you choose. Audio, video, animation and text are combined with complete transcripts and references to make this the ultimate reference on today's important topics.

You can learn more about the seminars at the links below:

How do I access the seminars?

The links to the seminars above will give you more information on the content covered by each seminar. They also provide links to the CD order form or to the Web-based seminar.

To get a feel for the user interface, view our sample presentation. Before you do, however, please read our system requirements carefully.

Please note that the Virtual Seminars are available over the Web only to our CREN members (you can learn more about membership here). Non-members can order a CD.

What exactly is a "Virtual Seminar"?

The CREN Virtual Seminars are available on CD; the latest seminars are also accessible over the Web. They take advantage of the latest advances in synchronized multimedia to blend audio and video presentations with a dynamic "whiteboard" for graphics, hyperlinks, and animation.

The seminars are not linear; the content is designed to be viewed in whatever order a user finds most useful. The interface makes it easy to maneuver through different topics and to jump to the just the information you need.

How do I interact with a seminar?

Video presentations are fully indexed to make it easy to find the exact information you need. In addition, each presentation is augmented with an easily accessible transcript, glossary, and reference list. If you ever have a question, FAQs and email access to both the presenters and to CREN are always available.

Who teaches the seminars?

The content of the seminars is developed by networking experts -- by the people who shaped the networks of the past and who are helping to shape the communication technology of the future.

For each new seminar topic, CREN gathers a group of outside presenters whose depth and breadth of experience on that topic represent a knowledge base rarely found in one place. When you have access to a Virtual Seminar, however, their expertise is always only a mouse click away.

Who chose the Virtual Seminar topics?

Topics for the Virtual Seminars were chosen with the help of CREN members, whose feedback and suggestions are always valued. CREN's aim is to provide expert information on the networking topics of the most concern to our members. If you have a suggestion for a future topic to be discussed in a forum such as our CREN TechTalks or Strategic FAQ Series, please take a minute to send an email to Judith Boettcher , Executive Director of CREN. We value your comments and suggestions!
