To help understand where we are today, and what the evolutionary successor might be, is Douglas Van Houweling, the Vice Provost for Academic Outreach and Information Technology, and Dean of Academic Outreach at the University of Michigan. Doug is internationally recognized for both his role in the creation and evolution of the NSFNET and the Internet, and his leadership role in identifying and developing the capabilities of Internet 2.
