Advanced Networking

It wasn't that long ago that the Internet was considered to be advanced networking. Well, to those of us in the field, that description certainly didn't last long. As technology became more sophisticated, so, too, did the demands by users. Integration of voice, video and data is a key issue, as is the attendant need for more speed and bandwidth.

Clearly, planning, designing and implementing these networks will require significant expertise. Ken Klingenstein certainly qualifies as such an expert. He's the Director of Computing and Network Services at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Many of you may know him from his years as Vice President of Farnet; Chair of the Federal Networking Council Advisory Committee, and member of the CAUSE Board. The Boulder campus is home to several state and regional network management centers and was the first campus to connect to the vBNS (NSF-sponsored very-high speed Backbone Network Service).
