System Requirements
for Viewing the Virtual Seminars

As the CREN Virtual Seminars push the effective use of video technologies over the network, it is important to use the recommended browsers and plugins. Using browsers and other software not specifically recommended is likely to lead to problems. This is especially true for those who are accessing the seminars on a Macintosh computer. Please read more about special considerations for Mac users here.

To view the sample presentation or any of the Virtual Seminars, you must have the plugin RealPlayer 5.0 (available free-of-charge from RealNetworks). Be sure to download RealPlayer rather then RealPlayer Plus. Please note that the Virtual Seminars do not support the RealNetworks G2 beta plugin.

Your computer system also should meet the following minimum requirements:

Operating System and Processor:

Windows:
Windows 95 with 150 mhz Pentium processor or higher
Macintosh:
PowerPC (System 7.5.3 or higher, including OS 8) with 603 or 604 processor running at 150 mhz or higher
Network Connection:
28.8 Kbps or faster

RAM:
16 MB suggested; 24 MB preferred

Hard Disk Space:
20 MB (to be used as temporary disk cache)
You can read more about the specifics of setting up your computer for the Virtual Seminars in the Set-Up section of the FAQs for "Creating Internet2".
