Communication Basics

In this section, two segments, "Objectives" and "Fundamentals of Communications," will consider in more detail the objectives of series and the communications technology basics needed to understand the discussions that will follow.

Both presentations are led by Douglas Gale, the Vice President for Information Systems and Services at George Washington University in Washington D.C. Doug was one of the original developers of the Internet, founding one of the first regional networks on the NSFNET and serving as NSFNET Program Director for two years. During that time he was instrumental in the development of the first T3 national backbone. Doug is a Board member of both CREN and CAUSE.
