Biography
Judith is the Executive Director of CREN, the Corporation for Research and
Educational Networking. CREN's mission is to provide products and tools to support institutions who are moving quickly
to the new teaching, learning, and research environments. CREN is just now launching Virtual Seminars on core topics such as Campus Communication Strategies and Untangling the Web. The Virtual Seminar, "Creating Internet2" is available on the web site at Syllabus magazine.
Before coming to Florida, Dr. Boettcher served as the Director of Education
Technology Services at Penn State
University in State College. The Education Technology Services unit
supported faculty in the integration of technology into instruction. While
at Penn State, she also chaired the university-wide Technology Classroom
program that designed and developed over 50 technology classrooms.
She earned her Ph.D. in education and cognitive psychology at the University
of Minnesota and her Master's degree in English from Marquette University
in Milwaukee, WI. She also served as the project leader for the Educational
Uses of Information Technology (EUIT/EDUCOM)
Joe Wyatt Challenge, 1990-1992.
Interested in the transformation of education through the use of information-age
instructional technology tools and processes, Dr. Boettcher knows that
faculty and students, empowered by technology, will revolutionize the content
and the processes of teaching and learning.
The change process, the future, trends and new paradigms, and the diffusion
of innovation are of deep interest to her. She admits with alarcrity to
being a "Trekker" in the past. While she also loves technology, she would
like her own personal technology valet.
